Since the latest 'stable' update, I've been having problems with crashing while selecting the car to drive after choosing Practice.

I'm also having problems updating Vdrift's cars and tracks. It simply says my client is out of date or similar, and doesn't work. When I try to install cars manually, the game crashes just as I try to select the car for a practice lap.

I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.8 at the moment, but I've had the same problem on 10.7.x, and if I recall correctly, Windows as well.

I don't want to go into the trouble of compiling the nightly (which will possibly be more unstable), so what should I do? I'm bored of the bundled cars, and the random crashing is annoying.
1.There were more changes in Car.car files for all the cars so the cars you had before should be updated with the correct cars by deleting the My Documents\Vdrift folder so that vdrift will reset its updating function.
2.Try this build, you dont have to recompile and its already the most updated http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdrift/f...%20builds/
Hope it helps

The latest source is usually the most stable. It contains the latest fixes and I am also trying to keep regressions low by developing in separate branches and testing before merging into master.
I'll try that method slickx. Those seem to be Windows builds, but I'll try running them on Wine, thanks.

I see NaN, would you consider updating the stable more often then? People like me just want to play the game, and not bother with all the compiling business.

Not to say I'm a computer n00b, I'm experienced with Linux and I've managed my own web server once.

Thanks again guys, I'll try this and let you know what happens.
I'd like to do a release asap actually. There is at least one blocking issue with linux/mesa though ( http://vdrift.net/Forum/showthread.php?tid=1718 ), just need to hack a workaround for it. And there are a few bits that could use some more polish, but this is something I can live with.
I'll try and do a mac nightly build in the next few days, now I know at least one person will use it Wink
A mac nightly build is here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdrift/f...g/download
Use svn data r1236.
