Hi,
I am not tech savvy so this could very well be my fault. Having said that, have just downloaded the latest version available at apple.com for OS X which claims it is compatible for all OS X after 10.1, and I'm running 10.2.8 and after dragging the vdrift folder into the applications folder and double clicking vdrift the icon starts in the dock for a second at the bottom like all applications when starting and then disappears.
Thoughts?
Jonathan
It's not installing because open al won't install. I don't know why open al will not install. Any help?
i don't know where apple got it's system requirements for vdrift from, they are certainly false. we officially only support 10.3 and 10.4, but id' be happy to hear if you can get it working...

that said the OpenAL installer should work fine on 10.2.8:

When I submitted the page about VDrift 2006-02-21 for Mac OS X, I simply copied the requirements for VDrift 2005-11-03 which was already up there (which said it required 10.1 or higher). So whoever submitted that page would be the one who originated that...if it's incorrect I'm sure we can submit an update.
I got OPEN AL to install, but neither version of Vdrift would work.
Did you get any error messages or did it just do the same as before?
It did the exact same as before, for both versions. It bounced in the dock at the bottom like any application that's starting up and then after a seconrd or two it disappeared.
OK, sounds like it's crashing. abs1nth: is this expected for users of Mac OS X < 10.3? Is there any way he can debug it?
yes, sorry this is expected behavior (because of the gcc c++ ABI changes)

supporting 10.2 would be a lot of work since we also need to support the new intel macs

if someone other steps up to do the necessary work and regular testing on 10.2 it is fine with me....

i'll try to update the apple page to make clear we need 10.3.X ATM
Alright, I understand now. Thanks for handling this Julian. Smile
