Hi there, nice game!

Ran for a while, changed screen resolution and now the image is scrambled. What do I do?

Mac OSX.3
What version of the game are you running?
It's version 2006-07-08.
Hmm, OK. I thought we'd cleared this problem up with the latest version...I know it works in Linux and this is the first time I've heard of this bug for this version on Apple.
I've got the same problem with the OSX patch for Descent II. The screens are loading and I can move the cursor and press buttons but it's a blind interface.
The latest release still has that bug, but it's fixed in SVN (hopefully for OSX, but I don't remember if that was tested). You can either try out the version in SVN or just close the game after you change resolutions (it should have the new resolution when you start it again). If that doesn't work, you can also edit a file to manually set the resolution.
I apologize for my lack of understanding, but I don't know which SVN file to download.
I have closed and opened the game several times with the same scrambled screen and I can't see the menu to change the resolution. All I get is a nice pattern of blue horizontal stripes.
How do I edit the screen resolution file? Do I need XCode.

Just for grins though I opened up the Data file, went into options.config checked the screen settings and the default was 800X600. That's just the document though, right?

I'd like to learn more about programming. If I do start tinkering with the game it could get ugly.
OSX guys, can you tell him where to find the VDrift.config file?
Here's a more accurate description of the problem:

After I double click the app the screen goes dark, then a scrambled pattern shows for a moment (the opening image), then another scrambled pattern (the main menu).
I can't use keys to select buttons, it's unusable.

If anyone out there has had this problem and overcome it please tell me how.
But... it was working fine before you changed your screen resolution, right?
It was working alright.
If I changed any settings during the game some things would go out, like the tach and speedo would turn into moons and rotate with the needles, but the basics still worked.
What I had to do was change the settings, close and restart and everything was in place.

Most likely the screen rez, but may have something to do with full screen vs. windowed.
I believe this problem is one that we've identified and fixed in SVN (our working version of the code), so hopefully the next release won't have this issue.
