Thanks for the feedback Joe, I'm glad it works for you. That is correct - SDL, SDL_net, SDL_image, and SDL_mixer are all available through the autopackage magical dependency fulfillment system, so we don't have to statically link those.

So I'd say that we're gold for a release now - for real this time. Smile Now I just need to figure out a way to build the full data set package - my /tmp partition is too small to hold the whole thing Sad

Good thing we got that car bit sorted out - wouldn't be cool if people started playing and the game crashed. (Note to self - catch missing car problems and don't crash...)
I've finally uploaded the release, finished the notes, and posted the story. Thanks again everybody!

If you are posting somewhere about the new release please include a link to the release story on the site: http://vdrift.net/article.php/20070323-r...utopackage
In the release story, can you add a note to tell users that there is no car to car collision detection currently? I think this is an obvious issue to a new user.
I tried the minimal package on my Debian Etch, it install and works until I select "Practice Game" or "Single Race" or "Network Game"

> vdrift -verbose
...
gl_car init
segmentation fault

I'll try to reinstall

thanks for the release Wink
Nigo, which package are you using? Did you remove your ~/.vdrift/ directory before you started?

rookie1, thanks for reminding me, I'll add that.
VDrift-2007-03-23-minimal.package
I deleted ~/.vdrift, it's the same

Hmmm, that's odd. Are you sure your OpenGL drivers are working properly? I wonder if perhaps there are some differences in your GL ilbraries from what was used to make the package...there shouldn't be, but it's possible. I'm guessing that you have no problem with the SVN version compiled?

btw I just tagged the release. Forgot to do that last time.
sorry I never tried the SVN version on Linux, so I don't know about that; my OpenGL drivers are working fine

I'm not the only one Wink
