Full Version: Vista testing, hang on RA

A friend of mine running Windows Vista tested the game for me today and gave me some feedback. Here's what I learned.
  • He downloaded the full package. It was missing SDL_gfx.dll. I told him to download this file and it worked after that.
  • Settings are correctly saved in C:\Users\username\.vdrift\.
  • The game runs fine for him, except for a hang on Road Atlanta.
  • On RA, no matter what cars are selected, in Single Player mode with one opponent, the game hangs (picture freezes and engine sound loops endlessly). I can't reproduce this problem in Linux.

He's using the very latest nVidia drivers for Vista. There have been some driver issues with nvidia + vista but he reports that with this latest version many problems have been cleared up. Can anyone think of a reason why Road Atlanta would trigger this bug when other tracks wouldn't?
has he already changed the protection on the folder?
i had hangs caused by impossible writing to stdout.txt

Are his controls working? i cannot set controls on Vista, they are continuously reset to nothing
He said everything was saved properly, but I'm not sure if he specifically tested controls. He didn't report any of the crashing problems you had, and said he did not have to run as administrator. He's probably sleeping now, but next time I see him on IRC I will ask him further questions...
