Full Version: My drift M3 (Garentee this will drift)

After much pacejka hmwk and staring at other setups, this is what I have come up with. The rebound and bounce are guestimates but the rest are true to life setup. Not necessarily stock but from the suspension kit on my car. Try it out with the mouse, i havent tried with just keyboard yet. I had good success on dijon with it.

Wow, it's sure easy to throw into a slide and recover! I like it. I don't like the transmission settings, though... it shifts instantaneously.
You using the auto tranny? i do manual. I havent really fixed up the transmission settings.

Do you have any suggestions on what to change? I think its still kind of hard to keep going and transition but I cant think of what I can change on the car to fix that.
I think the shift delay is too low, but I do like the setup. It's very easy to drift. I like the tire feel. I guess 55 degrees is really a little high for the steering angle to be realistic, right?

The shift delay is the default setting. I just upped the clutch pressure. 55 degrees is quite excessive seeing as most cars dont get to 40. But that was the way I compensated for the inability to change the sensitivity of the mouse. I try never go get to max angle.

Someone with a wheel wanna try this out?
I think the clutch settings just need to be tweaked... the clutch pressure seems much too high now. I set it back to the old clutch pressure and that seems better to me. The handling is great, though... it actually oversteers without effort! It could probably use a little refinement, but this is much much closer to a drift setup than any of our cars have so far.

I had the clutch setup more for testing than realism. Im still tweaking stuff and making sure the car is in gear is paramount.

Oversteering without effort with my setup is actually pretty realistic. The old suspension setup gave you slight understeer at all turning. Mine gives you slight oversteer under all turning. I would like it to take a bit more effort for initial turn in but that would basically be tuning suspension settings.

FYI these suspension settings are basically what I have on my car now except I have more caster and camber. It will basically drift like this if you power into a corner. :wink:
I'm going to start playing with this car some, and we'll see if we can't get it added to SVN sometime this week, or this weekend.
