I'm running the latest public release of vdrift on my linux box and I've some problem with "flashing" textures. This problem seems to not affect all the camera view (lateral views seems not to be affected by this problem)

My gpu is an Ati Radeon x800 with the latest driver by ati (i know that this card can have some problem with shadows so i've disbled them for the cars)

ps.: Sorry for my bad english[/img]
that are not artifacts that are missing textures... and i have the same problem here on some tracks... but I'm not missing whole pieces of the street...
ok, I was wrong... drove on Laguna Seca and there was a whole piece of the street missing.

Seems to be something that appears randomly.
Not only on Laguna Seca and not only the street is affected... i''ve the same problem in
"zandvoort"
The textures appear and disapper a lot of times in a second (they are not always missing)

seems to me a problem with the new cinegraph reendering engine. I bet Venzon will find the bug and fix it tonight Wink
I've seen this too. I've got it on my bugfix list:

Do you mean the latest release (2007-03-23) or the latest SVN code?

As public release i mean the 2007-03-23 one.
I suggest you try out the SVN code and see how it works for you. The graphics engine has been almost totally rewritten since the last release.
I've downloaded the vdrift trunk
Code:
svn co http://svn.vdrift.net/repos/vdrift/trunk vdrift
May i download also the data or can i use the data that come with the 2007-03-23 release?

(if I've to download also all the new data... from where and how many Mb is?.... i'm on a slow connection 56k)
Well, the data repository check out is about 1.3 GB, so you may not be able to do that. No, the data from the last release will not work. Sorry...maybe you can find a faster internet connection and burn the data on a DVD or something?

I' think i may wait for the next binary release Sad

Anyway... I've tried to compile the vdrift truk and it gave me this error
Code:
g++ -o build/physics.o -c -Wall -g3 -D_REENTRANT -Iinclude -I/usr/include/SDL src/physics.cpp
src/physics.cpp: In member function ‘void PHYSICS::Init()’:
src/physics.cpp:11: error: ‘dInitODE’ was not declared in this scope
scons: *** [build/physics.o] Error 1
scons: building terminated because of errors.
bash-3.1$

Thanks for the help Smile and remember that here there is an impatient vdrift user waiting for the next release
