Ok track gurus, here's an original track design. All you have to do is find textures and build it.

The start/finish should be on the front straight, probably about 1/3 of the way down. Ask if you have any questions. Let me know if you want to work on this, because I want to test. Scale - the front straight should be about 2 Km long.
how did you create that?
Using Google sketchup. Before you ask, it only exports/saves to a backwards @$$ completely proprietary format in it's free version, and PNG/jpg/tiff formats for 2d stuff. Did I cover it, or did you have another question? Smile
I'll try to trace this out. Do you know how to use blender? If so, I could send you the .blend file and you could evaluate it in 3D and let me know what you think (otherwise I'll just post screenshots or something).
No idea how to use blender. That's why I asked in IRC if you could "draw" in blender. I really (unfortunately) for all my computer knowledge (hah!) no less than nothing about how to use CAD or graphics design programs. I played very briefly years ago with POVray, but that's about it. Back in those days it was taking several days to render a single object with a single light source. I simply couldn't be arsed with it. You try to put something together based on it, and I'll test it and let you know what I think.

PS: If there are any really good tutorials out there on how to use blender for an idiot, point them out. If I learn something, it may be of some use.

Maybe this helps.

Navigating in blender aint hard. But doing something in it, is.
Joe, I've run on the track a little. Two things: Can you put walls up at the edge of the grass, and can you make the map that displays in the top right corner while you're driving smaller so that the whole thing shows? Additionally, my vision for the rest of the landscape is somewhat VIRish, sort of open fields across rolling hills with some trees here and there.
Hmm, what's VIR?

Okay, I can start filling in the other parts of the track, but first I wanted to make sure that you're happy with how all of the turns (is the camber of the turns okay?), hills, etc worked out... are you? :-)
If I said "not entirely" but I really couldn't give you good feedback until I had more reference points, how much trouble would it cause? At least put the walls up so that when I spin off the track trying to get used to it, I don't have to reset and start a lap all over again Smile

Once I've been around it a few times at speed, I'll be able to tell you a lot more about it, but until then, I'm kinda stuck.

If you haven't seen it, you should. It's a beautiful track, and I wouldn't mind seeing it in the game.

this one is available as a gtr2 track from http://tantra.rscsites.org/gtr2/gtr2-vir...ginia.html. if you get permission to convert it, i'll make a vdrift track. let me know.

mmmmmm, VIR...
WOW THIS LOOKS REALLY GOOD!! Big Grin Big Grin I havent gotten time to do much on vdrift lately because of High School. Sprained my ankle playing football yesterday so i took the day off and decided to take a look at whats going on. things seem to be progressing nicely. Tomorrow my cousin who works at GM is coming over from Detroit so im going to see if i can get one of those repair books for a 'Vette and continue my work. Big Grin Big Grin
I added walls to indianhill in data R89.

To me the scale of the track seems off; like it's much larger than it should be. Every straight away or slightly banking turn is a reeeally long straight away or slightly banking turn. Most of the time it's like driving on a freeway or something. The geometry of the track is sound, but it might benefit from a smaller scale. Thoughts?
Just a bit. One round takes around 4 minutes and i was driving 150-200km/h

And something weird is happening... the track seems to be off limit, cause i just see a small part of the start/end straight in the map on the top right. And i cant get some cars faster, like the AX2, never get into 4th gear, something is slowing it down
